Hi if you have an Android 11 smartphone and want to use it with the printer without a router (we don't all have routers surprisingly!) then I think it would be better for you to use WiFi Direct rather than the phones personal WiFi hotspot.

To do this:-

To switch on WiFi Direct without a router on Android 11, you got to Settings, Network and Internet, then switch WiFi on.

You then tap on WiFi, select Wifi Preferences, Advanced then tap on Wifi Direct.

On the printer that is displayed you tap it, it then says 'invite' or similar (I'm typing this by memory!), You then tap it again, wait a few seconds, and it then says connected.

Make sure HP Plugin and HP Smart app are installed on your smartphone, and you have added the printer to the Smart app  and you are good to go.  Just make sure WiFi Direct is switched in on the printer of course.

I hope this helps. It certainly got be going and I can now print wirelessly from my smartphone without any need for a router.

😀
