Hi @Tjones3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To connect your HP printer to a Wi-Fi network, follow these steps:

Step 1: Put the Printer Into Wi‑Fi Setup Mode

Your printer must be in Wi‑Fi Setup Mode (blinking blue light).
Here’s how to start it, depending on your model:

🔵 A) If your printer has ONLY buttons (no touchscreen)

✔ Smart Tank, DeskJet, Envy, etc.

Press and hold:

Wi‑Fi button + Cancel button (X)

Hold for 5 seconds until the blue Wi‑Fi light starts blinking.

This resets Wi‑Fi and makes the printer ready for setup.

🔵 B) If your printer has a touchscreen display

  1. Tap Setup or Network
  2. Tap Restore Network Settings
  3. Tap Yes
  4. Now go to Wireless Setup Wizard
  5. Choose your Wi‑Fi and enter the password

Step 2: Add the Printer in the HP Smart App

Your HP printer must be added through the HP Smart app, or it won’t print over Wi‑Fi.

On Windows:

  1. Open HP Smart
  2. Tap Add Printer
  3. Select your printer when it appears
  4. Enter your Wi‑Fi password
  5. Finish the setup steps shown in the app

If HP Smart says “No printer found,” move to the next step.

Step 3: Make Sure Your Wi‑Fi Is Compatible

HP printers work only on:

✔ 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi

Not 5 GHz only

Not Guest networks

Not open networks

If your router has two Wi‑Fi names (example: “Home‑5G” and “Home‑2.4G”), choose the 2.4G one.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
