Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Our computer tech has advised that our Laser Jet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP is not recognizing the proper IP address to allow it to connect to our wi-fi, although it will connect to a hotspot wi-fi through our phones. We have tried several things in attempting to connect wirelessly, including changing out our modem, resetting factory settings, etc. We can print from our computers if we connect printer through ethernet cord.

Hi @JFW1969,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are experiencing issues connecting your HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP to your wireless network after upgrading to Windows 11. Follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Verify Network Settings:

  • Ensure your wireless network is operational, and your computer is connected to the same network you want your printer to connect to.

  • Check if the network name (SSID) and password are correct and have not been changed recently.

Reset and Reconfigure Wireless Settings:

  • Access the printer's control panel and navigate to setup or network settings.

  • Run the "Wireless Setup Wizard" on the printer to reconnect it to the desired wireless network. Make sure to follow the on-screen instructions carefully.

Assign a Manual IP Address:

  • Though automatic IP configuration should ideally work, you may try manually assigning an IP address to the printer:

    • Print a network configuration page to see the current network status and IP address.

    • Use the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering its IP address into a web browser on your computer.

    • Navigate to the Network tab and click on "Wireless" (802.11) to manually assign an IP address. Ensure the IP address is within the range of your router's IP addresses but not identical to any other device's IP on your network.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Visit HP's support website to check for firmware updates for your printer model.

Check Compatibility:

  • Although unlikely, confirm if there are any compatibility issues with Windows 11 and the LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw. Ensure you have the latest drivers installed from Official HP® Support.

Router Configuration:

  • Verify that your router has the latest firmware.
  • Check for any settings, such as MAC address filtering, that might block the printer's connection. If necessary, add the printer's MAC address to the router's whitelist.

Wireless Direct Printing:

  • As a temporary solution, you can try using wireless direct printing by enabling it on your printer and connecting your computer directly to the printer's wireless network.

Check Firewalls and Security Software:

  • Ensure that any firewall or security software on your computer isn't blocking the printer from connecting to the network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
