HP DeskJet 3630 All-in-One Printer

I have a new Router.  How do I connect my printer to the new WiFi.  I've tried using the directions via HP Smart but have not had any success.

Hi @KLo510

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To connect your HP printer to a new Wi-Fi router, follow these steps. If you're encountering issues using HP Smart, you can try connecting via the printer's control panel instead.

Method 1: Connect via HP Smart (Windows or Mac)

Ensure HP Smart is Installed:

  • If you haven't already, download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store (for Windows) or the Mac App Store (for Mac).

Open HP Smart:

  • Launch HP Smart and make sure you are logged in to your HP account.

Select Your Printer:

  • If your printer is already added to HP Smart, select it from the home screen. If not, click Add Printer.
  • The app will attempt to find your printer on the network.

Reconfigure Wi-Fi Settings:

  • If your printer is not connected to the new Wi-Fi, there should be an option to reconfigure it.
  • Follow the prompts to enter your new Wi-Fi name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password.
  • The app will send the settings to your printer.

Test Printing:

  • After the setup completes, try printing a test page to ensure the connection is successful.

Method 2: Connect via Printer Control Panel (For Most HP Printers)

If HP Smart doesn't work, you can try connecting directly from the printer's control panel.

Power on Your Printer:

  • Ensure that the printer is powered on and that the display is visible.

Access the Wi-Fi Setup Menu:

  • For most HP printers, press the Wireless icon or go to Setup or Network settings from the printer's home screen.
  • Navigate to Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).

Use the Wireless Setup Wizard:

  • The Wireless Setup Wizard will search for available Wi-Fi networks.
  • Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list.
  • Enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted.

WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup):

  • If your router supports WPS, you can use it for a quicker connection:
  • Press the WPS button on your router (this is usually a physical button).
  • Then, on the printer’s screen, choose WPS to connect automatically to the Wi-Fi.

I hope this helps.
