I just replaced the Xfinity gateway (XB8) and now my printer will not connect to the wireless network. To test, I plugged in the old gateway (XB6) and the printer connected automatically. Do I need to change a setting in the printer to get it to connect to the new gateway? Thanks!

In case anyone is interested, I solved my problem.

The new Xfinity XB8 gateway is configured by default to use WPA3 security protocol. That was developed in 2018 and my printer was made it 2017 so it was not compatible with WPA3. I reconfigured the gateway to use WPA2 and the printer connected without any problem. So, if you have an older device that will not connect to a new gateway, that may be something to look at and hopefully this will help someone with a similar problem.

Sounds like a great idea.  How do I reconfigure the gateway to wpa2?

The WPA setting is greyed out on my router...how were you able to change it to WPA2?

You have to use the Xfinity app to configure the gateway.

You can't just log in to the gateway to configure it. Many of the settings are greyed out. Must be a security thing. 😕

I have a similar problem with the HP office pro 8600 and the XB8 router from Xfinity (a comcast company).   I logged into the xfinity router admin at 10.0.0.1 and the feature to change off WP3 is greyed out.   I don't see any way to change this on the xfinity mobile app.  I will try xfinity tech support and post if they have a solution

Any ideas?  Time for a patch HP? ugh I would hate to toss away a perfectly good printer/scanner/fax for this security item....especially since I have a nice stock of ink!

Alcw62...Were you able to solve this? I just switched to Xfinity and have the exact same issue with the same XB8-T router and HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer. Have tried Xfinity's chat function and even went to a store. Neither were of any help. Very FRUSTRATED!

unfortunately not...I have posted to this board looking for support...unfortunately it appears that the warranty on my product (8600 all in one)  is expired...so I do not know if HP will provide us a patch or an answer on this (boo)...unfortunately ethernet won't work for me with this printer as a solution.   I need a wireless.

here the link to my request for help and all the steps I have taken.  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Wireless-Networking-Internet/Xfinity-XB8-and-WP3A-authenticati...

Anyone else out there have a solution?
