HP Deskjet 2652
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Deskjet 2652 printer that had been connected to my Netgear wireless router using a ZyXEL gateway and worked fine. My gateway died and received a new, and different, SMART?RG gateway/router combo from my ISP. I can't get the old Netgear router out of my printer. I can't get my new SMART/RG to hook up with my printer. I've done the un-plus and plug back-ins, I've done the WSP button trick, I've done the pushing the wireless and cancel button trick. I've done the QuickStart procedures and nada.

I ran my Netgear Router through my SMART/RG and the wireless light on the printer stopped blinking and stayed on, but, no go through the SMART/RG. The SMART/RG has tons of settings and a USB port to configure, however, it's above my pay scale.

I could hook the printer up to my computer via USB cable, however, the printer takes Wi-Fi Direct for my ink ordering and I can't get on the internet that way. The second obstacle is this printer needs to be connected to my home network full of computers and phones. I've lost my patience and need some serious help.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Is your new router on 2.5 GHz or 5 Ghz?

Have you already reset the network settings and tried to connect the Printer to the W-Fi: Press and hold the Wireless button ( ) and the Cancel button ( ) from the printer control panel together for three seconds.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks!

Have a great day!

Is your new router on 2.5 GHz or 5 Ghz?........It can be either, however, right now it is set up to be 2.5 Ghz.

I have tried the pressing of the buttons WiFi and Cancel together and it failed. I had a Netgear wireless router prior to this and the printer test results, after the pressing of those buttons, showed Netgear was still the SSID, not the Earthlink (the SSID of the new one) I have now. I ran the button pressing a few times and as of lately it shows "Pyramid" as the SSID (?).

I have the printer connected to my computer via USB connection and I am concerned about the Direct connection to keep my ink coming. When connected via Direct my computer goes offline and it is a pain to reconnect.

This was supposed to be easy. My new gateway/router has a USB port without any idea what to set the settings to I'll blow this one up too! I fried the first new SMART/RG I got from my ISP and I'm sure they would frown on a second one.

I just need to start with an empty connection memory in the printer, I'm sure, but there isn't any access for me that I know of.

We'll have to perform a reset on the Printer for this. I have sent you a private message, for more details that cannot be shared in a public post.

Please do check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
