Hi @RobertasV,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I'd like to help!

I understand you would like to connect the printer to the hotspot or wifi

You can use your mobile phone as a hotspot but when you do this, your mobile will act as a router.

In this scenario, you will no longer be able to print from the same phone, however, you can connect another device to the same hotspot and print from that device.

To assist better -

  • What device are you using the printer with, a Windows computer, Mac, Android or an iPhone?
  • I would like to know, is your router set to work on 2.4 GHz network or 5 GHz network band?
  • Are you trying to connect your printer to your home network or public network?
  • What is the status of the wireless light on the printer, steady or blinking

Let me know!

Just moved to a new location so I am trying to connect to a new Wi-Fi. I  use an iPad mini. When I turned on the printer I expected the printer to find the new router but the Wi-Fi light just blinks continuously. I was able to print a wireless network test report and it shows my old router info so that needs to be cleared out so I can connect with the new router. The new router is  Microtik HAPac2 s/n CDFD0E554FF2/124/USr2.

I thought it was taking to long for a reply so I Googled the question of how to reset the MFPWP29 back to factory settings and got an answer to hold the alert button down for twenty seconds and the Wi-Fi light and power light would then blink at the same time signaling the printer was reset to factory settings which then the printer did connect with the new router solving my issue.

Thank you for your answer.

I found it is possible and your answer was correct. I just needed to use my new smartphone as a router and other device such as other smartphone, laptop, pc to connect to it and I am ready to print from that other device by setting up new printer in "HP Smart app". If to set up existing printer in your app doesn't help for some reason (maybe it was set up using old way), in this situation you need to click "add new printer" in your app menu and start from there. P.S. I am personally used PC, so I don't know if using smartphone is easy to set up just as using PC.

From this point it was easy to set up just like I did when I bought new printer and tried to connect using PC through Wi-Fi
