Hi @Fastcars, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To connect your HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer to a server, follow these steps:

Connect the Printer to the Network

Wireless Connection:

  • On your printer's control panel, go to Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  • Once connected, note the printer's IP address (you can find it under Network Settings).

Wired (Ethernet) Connection:

  • Connect an Ethernet cable from the printer to your network router or switch.
  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to Setup > Network > Ethernet Settings to ensure it’s enabled.
  • Note the IP address assigned to the printer.

Install the Printer on the Server

  • On the server, follow these steps:
    • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a Printer.
    • Select Add a Network, Wireless, or Bluetooth Printer.
    • If your printer is listed, select it and follow the on-screen instructions.
    • If it’s not listed, click The printer that I want isn’t listed.
    • Choose Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.
    • Enter the printer's IP address and select Next.
    • Follow the prompts to install the driver.

Share the Printer on the Network

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your printer and select Printer Properties.
  • Navigate to the Sharing tab.
  • Check Share this printer and give it a name.
  • Click OK.

Install on Client Computers

  • On any computer that needs access:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a Printer.
    • Select Add a network printer and choose the shared printer.

Additional Tips:

  • Ensure the server and client PCs are on the same network.
  • If using a domain server, you may need admin rights to install the printer.
  • If printing issues arise, check firewall settings and network permissions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
