is anybody else having issues with a 6100 Series particularly the 6155e which is the envy line. I've been having continuous connection issues. Even though my printer is hooked to my internet and they are both on the same network as my laptop it continuously loses the connection and I cannot print. I've gone through multiple resets uninstall uninstall making sure my drivers are up to date. I've had more frustration with this one particular printer that has cost me more time than necessary. Now trying to reinstall the printer I can no longer use the ink that's in my printer because it's tied up with the instant ink program which somehow my orders got canceled, and when trying to reestablish the printer back into instant ink it won't let me do it. I've had reports that need to be completed which in turn I've had to go to my friends house to use his computer to print. And you cannot get HP support on the weekend whether it's through a virtual chat or any way else. So you're completely screwed until somebody comes back into the office and feels like freaking working on Monday morning.

Hello @BellatorDei, and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your HP ENVY 6155e printer keeps losing connection and you're unable to print, especially when you're on a deadline. Let's walk through a few steps to resolve both the Wi-Fi connectivity and Instant Ink reactivation issues.

Fixing Wi-Fi Connection Issues

Please follow these steps to stabilize your printer's wireless connection:

Restart Devices:

  • Power off your printer, router, and laptop.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then power them back on.

Ensure Network Compatibility:

  • Make sure your printer is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (not 5 GHz).
  • Keep the printer within 5–6 feet of the router during setup.

Reinstall Using HP Smart App:

  • Download the HP Smart App. HP Smart
  • Open the app and click “Set up a new printer”.
  • Follow the prompts to reconnect your printer to Wi-Fi and add it to your account.

Advanced Troubleshooting:

  • If the printer disconnects after router changes, follow this guide to reconnect it properly.

Instant Ink Reactivation Steps

If your Instant Ink subscription was canceled and you're unable to use the ink, here's what you can do:

Log into your HP Instant Ink Dashboard:

Re-enroll in Instant Ink:

  • If your printer was removed, click “Add a printer” and follow the steps to re-enroll.
  • Make sure your printer is online and connected to the same HP account used previously.

Fix Cartridge Lock Issue:

  • Instant Ink cartridges are tied to active subscriptions. If the subscription is canceled, they become unusable.
  • Once re-enrolled, the cartridges should reactivate automatically.

Additional Tips

  • Static IP Address: Assigning a static IP to your printer via your router settings can help prevent disconnections.
  • Firmware Update: Ensure your printer firmware is up to date via the HP Smart App or driver page.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
