HP Smart Tank 5101 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My 5101 is connected to my network (solid blue light), my laptop sees the laptop as it is set as my default printer. I do not recall during install the printer asking for my wireless password and do not know how to check this.

I am unable to print to the new printer. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer. Thank you

You may need to reset the printer: video here

How to get the Wi-Fi direct name and password.

For a Wi-Fi setup video click here

This printer uses the 2.4ghz band.  Make sure your router has a different name (SSID) for the 5.0ghz band.  You can ignore this if you use Wi-Fi direct.

HP has some videos on how to do the initial setup

What I am seeing on my end is the following

Waiting for printer connection

Please wait for printer connection or cancel

The printer is connected to a 2.4qhz network, Windows sees the printer yet I am unable to print.

Please advise

Your printer is waking up from sleep and getting a different IP address from the Wi-Fi system it is connected to. It is online but your PC has an old address. It is like someone changing their phone number and not telling you. The quickest way to solve this is to print directly to the printer using Wi-Fi direct. Alternately go into the modem / router and have the DHCP server assign a fixed IP address for each printer. That way it never changes.  See page 28

possibly there could be a hardware problem.  If Wi-Fi direct does not work then

See if EWS can provide more information about the problem.
This explains how to use the EWS
Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

I think there is a video that show how to do Wi-Fi direct in the previous post.  Let me know if a problem
