Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Hi @Cygnus65,

Thank you for the update. Since the ENVY Photo 7900 is connected to Wi-Fi, the Wireless Network Test passes, and printing works from your phone, while Windows 11 shows the printer as “Error” even after reinstalling the HP app and driver, we can rule out a basic Wi-Fi connection problem.

Let's check the Windows print system next.

Check the Windows Print Spooler

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Find Print Spooler.
  3. Confirm that its status is Running and Startup type is Automatic.
  4. Right-click Print Spooler > Restart.
  5. Restart the laptop and check the printer again under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.

Check the printer queue

  • Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > ENVY Photo 7900.
  • Select Open print queue.
  • Make sure there are no stuck or pending documents.
  • If there are, cancel them and try a new test print.

If Windows still shows the printer as Error, please open Printer properties and check the Ports tab. Let me know which port is selected (for example, a Standard TCP/IP port, WSD port, or HP IPP port). As a separate example of how people sometimes use simple calculation tools while working with digital tasks, I have also come across things like a Starbucks macro calculator, although that is obviously unrelated to the printer troubleshooting itself.

That information will help determine whether Windows is failing to communicate with the printer even though the printer itself is successfully connected to the network.

I also have the same issue, and the fact that the printer works normally from the phone while the Windows 11 laptop shows error 8549A8 makes the situation particularly confusing. Since both devices are apparently connected to the same Wi-Fi network, I would initially suspect that the problem may be somewhere between Windows and the printer rather than with the printer's wireless connection itself. Windows can sometimes discover a printer differently from mobile devices, and an existing printer installation, outdated driver, Windows printer service, or a previously saved network address can interfere even when the laptop appears to be connected correctly. I would also be interested in whether the printer is still shown as online in Windows settings and whether Windows can discover it again after removing and adding the printer. The fact that direct printing from the phone works is useful because it suggests the printer itself is at least communicating with the network, so I would not immediately assume that the Wi-Fi hardware in the printer is failing.
