HP envy 5010 printer I can either connect the printer to the wifi or my phone (which is acting as my computer) but not both together at the same time. Every time I connect one it automatically bumps the other offline. Frustrated beyond belief! Using a new T-mobile 5G wifi home internet connection.

@JM5010, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to connect the printer wirelessly to both devices. It seems like you are using wifi-direct.

Do you have a wireless router?

HP does not recommend connecting the printer to a Hotspot or a guest network.

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

  • Make sure the printer and the phone are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi and thanks for getting in touch. I am not using wifi direct to connect, I used the printer's connection wizard to configure the connection and both my phone and my printer are connected to the wifi gateway, that being said I cannot connect from MY PHONE TO THE PRINTER since I have switched internet providers and hooked up this t-mobile home internet gateway (round grey unit). I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out what is wrong. **My printer is not letting me use the black cartridge that I replaced, saying it first needs to be registered with the hp service. But I cannot do that because the HP Smart app service connects from my phone's internet to the printer (which I am not able to do) in order to register the ink usage. I do not understand why I have both connected to the internet yet cannot connect from the HP Smart app service on my phone (Samsung Note 9 [software version 10] is current) to the printer itself?? I would like to attach a pdf copy of the t-mobile gray internet gateway manual for you to look at and see if you can help fix the problem if that is possible here?? If not, link is included. I appreciate any help you can provide. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.t-mobile.com/support/public-files/a...
