HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer
Chrome OS

I am trying to print out some papers, and instead of the paper's printing, I have printed out three cover pages. I am unsure why this happens when I have used this printer with no problem. I guess the cover page is from the printer and lists the media limits, job ID, driver and driver version, the description, etc. Can someone please help to fix this?

Hi @MemaK

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

This is a known issue on some HP printers used with Chrome OS/Chromebooks. The page showing Media Limits, Job ID, Driver, Driver Version, Description, etc. is not your document. It is usually a printer-job information sheet being generated because the printer and Chromebook are not communicating correctly.

Remove and re-add the printer in Chrome OS

  • Open Settings → Advanced → Printing → Printers.
  • Remove the HP ENVY 6455e.
  • Restart the Chromebook.
  • Add the printer again. HP recommends adding the printer through Chrome OS printer settings while the printer and Chromebook are on the same network.

Check the printer selection

  • When printing, click Destination and make sure the selected printer is the actual HP ENVY 6455e, not a saved duplicate or an older printer entry.

Power cycle.

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Restart the Chromebook.
  • Unplug the printer for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and reconnect to Wi‑Fi.

Test from a different Chrome app

  • Try printing a simple webpage or a Google Doc.
  • If those work, the issue may be limited to a specific application.

Update Chrome OS

  • Go to Settings → About ChromeOS → Check for updates.
  • Chromebook printing issues are sometimes resolved through Chrome OS updates.

Use the HP setup method again

  • HP specifically recommends ensuring the printer is properly set up and added to Chrome OS before printing.
