The printer works perfectly by wireless with two Windows PCs in my house. I just added a Dell Inspiron laptop and it won't work with the printer. The printer recognizes it to the extent that it starts to print, but what comes out every time I try is the attached output, followed by pages of one line of random characters on top of each other. But the first page is always the same. I have checked everything I can, searched the internet for solutions, and nothing works. Dell said it must be the printer, though it works fine with the other computers. On the community forum on Dell, many people have had the same issue and have not been able to solve it. Some suggested not using an HP driver, but I use a Microsoft one. Has anyone here heard of this? Any ideas for a solution? Dell said if HP says it's not the printer they might be able to let me talk to the software folks, who normally would charge me even though it's still under warranty. It doesn't make sense that one of the biggest computer makers and one of the biggest printer makers would make compatible products.

@SanAntonioRose, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand you are not able to print from the laptop. As the printer is printing fine from the other 2 computers, it means the printer hardware is working fine. This could be a driver issue.
- Which application are you trying to print from?
- Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue
Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.
If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.
Install the printer using the TCP/IP port:
Check for any pending Windows updates first.
- On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Remove the existing printer entry > click on Add a printer(at the top)
- Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
- Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
- Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
- Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
- Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
Try printing.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

IT'S FIXED! I had already run the Print and Scan Doctor, which said it found and fixed a couple of issues before, but I ran it again and it said the same thing. I had the same problem no matter what kind of document I tried to print. I think it was a classic situation of missing the obvious, but while I was looking at the Devices and Printers, which I had done several times before, I suddenly noticed that the box where my printer was said USB. I had never connected any of my devices by USB - I had the new laptop on wi-fi from the beginning. So I did what you suggested and deleted the printer and reinstalled it, and it popped back in correctly. Maybe Dell tests them by connecting them to a printer by USB and doesn't change the settings before sending them out. The odd thing is that not only did my printer reappear, but an HP A10 popped in, whatever that is. It's not mine! But it's gone now and everything is fine. Thank you so much!
