DeskJet 3752
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

I just bought a DeskJet 3752 and the wireless on the printer consistently turns off on after 5 minutes.

I have a MacBook Pro with OS X Yosemite and print wirelessly to the printer. However, I do not use my router to connect . I use the printer's direct wireless abilities.

It prints fine over the printer's wireless. But I find after pressing the printer's "Wireless "button, the light will turn of after about 5 or 10 minutes and my laptop will lose the connection until I press the printer's Wireless button again.

My Mac's "HP Utility" application will say:

"Connection to the device was lost. You can choose other device or try to reconnect with the current device."

I then get two buttons: "Select other..." and "Reconnect"

The first, naturally, is for choosing an alternative printer.

But tif I choose he second, "Reconnect", it never does. I have to press the printer's Wireless button again and then it works fine until 5 minutes later when the light goes off again.

How do I get the printer's Wireless light to stay on until I decide to turn it off.

It's terribly frustrating.

Thank you.

@Navy-Brat, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Are you using printer's wifi-direct option to connect it to your MAC?

If you connect the MAC to the internet, you will not be able to print via wifi-direct.

For more info, refer to - Printing with Wi-Fi Direct

I suggest you connect the printer directly to the wireless router for better connectivity.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Use the WPS method to connect the printer to the router. Refer to this document. to know how.

  • Make sure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.
  • Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
