For weeks since getting our new internet I have tried getting my dads printer connected to the WIFI. Ive exceeded every option I have. I do have dual broadband, however both networks have different names like have been suggested in other posts. I connected someone through the phone only for them to tell me that I will be charged for him to help me troubleshoot and to just go online and ask for help. Ive restarted the printer multiple times. Ive restarted my router multiple times. We both print from our phones and had no issue when the printer was connected to the old WIFI. I'm considering throwing the printer outside and setting it on fire if someone doesn't give me a helpful solution. I'm out of options and I'm to the point that I sat and cried because no one has helped me. Does anyone have any suggestions? Yes, I've pressed the wifi button until it blinks and pressed the WPS button on the router to connect, doesn't work.

Can you share the model information for your new router? Also what Wi-Fi security mode is set (ex. WPA2-Personal)?
You may also want to check if the printer firmware is up to date. Because you are having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi, you can update to the latest firmware by downloading the FW update utility from https://support.hp.com/sg-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-deskjet-2540-all-in-one-printer-series/5295960/m... It will allow you to update the printer firmware over a USB connection.

It’s an Arris Surfboard Max. I’m not at home right now to look at it completely. I did get to the point where the HPSmart app recognized the printer, however when I tried to connect it to the WiFi it kept telling me the password was invalid even though it is the correct password. I made sure I was typing it right but it kept saying it was incorrect. I thought I had made progress there but it was another setback.

I strongly suspect that the Arris Surfboard Max mesh system uses a feature known as 802.11r BSS Fast Transition. Unfortunately the Deskjet 2541 printer is not compatible with networks that use this feature.
I reviewed the manual for the Arris router and it doesn't show a way to disable the Fast Transition feature. Can you check in the router settings if there is any menu item for Advanced wireless features that would allow you to turn off something called either: 802.11r, BSS Fast Transition, or simply "FT"?
If you want an independent way to confirm whether or not your Wi-Fi network is indeed operating with Fast Transition, and you have an Android device, this app will allow you too see the detailed router settings broadcast by your router. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details/WiFiAnalyzer_open_source?id=com.vrem.wifianalyzer Once running the app, click on your Wi-Fi network and look for the detailed information. If the security string includes the +FT designation, then your network is using this feature (example below). If the string is only WPA2-PSK-CCMP, then FT is not currently active.
