So i bought a new HP Deskjet 2742e printer at Walmart some time back. It's NEVER been used. I've tried using my old printer as well. Nothing. I even went out and spent the extra $26 to get an USB cord to plug into my laptop to my old printer hoping it would connect to the internet. Nothing. My HP printer has no control panel to tell me if it's connected or not, just a constant blinking blue light. I can't use a wired connection on my HP printer, there's no plug. I don't have access to the router or the internet account to get anything changed. I don't know if it's the HItron router type I have (I have seen that on some message boards that's the case) or if it's the fact that my internet shows that you can connect to 2 different types of internet- one being 5G and that's the reason for the connecting being confused. I've tried resetting the router, I've tried the WPS, I've installed and uninstalled. I was almost ready to chuck both printers in the trash knowing that it wasn't going to work. Now that I have my laptop up and running on Windows 10 after a week long adventure and an hour and a half with tech support from Microsoft, I don't know what the issue is anymore. If there is someone out there who has had this kind of issue and can walk me through it- that would be awesome. Otherwise, I can't do my classwork or print out anything I would need.

@CBrown89, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand you are trying to connect the printer wirelessly to the computer. Refer to - Connecting an HP Printer Using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)
- Restart the router, the printer, and the PC
- Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
- If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.
- The blue light will become steady once connected.
Use the HP Smart app to print and scan from your Win 10 PC

If this does not work, use the USB and convert it to wireless
