Deskjet 3639

Hello all,

I have trouble connecting my printer to the Wi-Fi since I clumsily created a password to enter the EWS server. Even though I have not forgotten it, I probably have misspelled it when saving it first. Since then, I have never been able to enter the EWS albeit many attempts with different spellings.

I have seen on this forum that many people have experienced the same issue but it seems like the key to overcome this problem is purposefully kept secret.

If you are privy to the solution, please give me advice to reset this password or reset my printer to factory settings as I am surely unable to do it by myself - I have been trying so for three hours. Your help will be much appreciated.

Regards.

N.B: My printer is an HP Deskjet 3639.

Hi there @Clumsy_novice, and welcome to HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.

I'm sorry to hear you're running into trouble with the Embedded Web Server (EWS) password on your HP DeskJet 3639. It's certainly frustrating when a simple typo locks you out.

Fortunately, there's a way to reset the printer to factory defaults, which will also clear the EWS password.

Steps to Reset HP DeskJet 3639 to Factory Defaults:

Turn on the printer if it’s not already on.

Press and hold the following buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds:

  • Cancel (X) button
  • Wireless button

After the reset:

  • The printer will return to its default settings.
  • The EWS password will be cleared.
  • You’ll need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network using HP Smart/HP App or the printer’s control panel.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

You can use the HP Smart app (available for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS) to reconnect your printer to Wi-Fi. HP Smart

Hello,

Thanks for having taken your time to reply to me.

However, I have already tried pressing these buttons (Cancel and Wireless network) and if it does reset network settings, it has not reset the EWS password. This means that I am left with a printer I cannot even use to print by Wi-Fi anymore.

I believe I have tried several times all "solutions" suggested in this forum, without success. But I have seen that some people in the same situation as me have been DMed for further guidance and have apparently successfully reset the password thereafter.

If you have a solution you cannot explain publicly, please note that I am open to be contacted by private message.

Regards
