Hi!

after searching the internet to no avail, this is my last try before I ditch the printer and sadly it’s newly purchased ink cartridges

in summary I hadn’t used this printer in a while due to running out of. Ink. During this time we had our router upgraded and since then our printer can’t be found.

I have now replaced the ink cartridges and have successfully printed  out the printer help pages but none have helped me to solve this and the WiFi light on the printer continues to flash..

I’ve been asked for a wps psssword which don’t know where to find. I can’t reset the printer as it doesn’t have a control panel and as I can’t find it on any devices, I have no way of accessing it beyond the basic buttons on the printer.

in my WiFi options I have deskjet WiFi option which I have managed to connect my computer to but still can’t find the printer.

i am now a bit stuck of how to get my devices to recognise the printer so I can connect it to wifi and turn the flashing WiFi button to a solid one.

i have also downloaded the hp smart app on my pc and my iPad but one can find it. I have also been asked to find it manually using is IP address but I have no way of finding it as it’s not appearing as any kind of device

I have been wondering if I can just over ride the WiFi element and buy some kind of cable to connect it directly  to the computer but don’t really know what to buy and if this woukd make a difference

any help much appreciated as it’s a shame to scrap it as all seems to work otherwise! I have also tried hp support but because the printer is old now, I’m not slight for free support!

thanks in advance,

Hi @Katyb24,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue is primarily related to reconnecting your HP DeskJet 2632 to your new WiFi network, as it was previously connected to the old one. Let's walk through some potential solutions to get your printer back online.

1. Reset the Network Settings on the Printer:

You mentioned that there is no control panel, but you can still reset the network settings using the following steps:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button (the one with the antenna icon) and the Cancel button (X icon) on the printer for about 5 seconds until the Wireless light starts blinking.
  • This will reset the network settings and put the printer in setup mode.

2. Reconnect the Printer to the New WiFi Using WPS:  Connect an HP printer using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

How to Find the WPS PIN to Complete Printer Setup | HP Printers | HP Support

If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can use it to easily connect the printer:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button on your printer until it starts blinking.
  • On your router, press the WPS button within 2 minutes (usually located on the back or side of the router).
  • Wait for the Wireless light on the printer to stop blinking and become solid. This indicates the printer has been connected to the WiFi.

If you don't know the WPS button on your router, check the router's manual or look for a button labeled "WPS."
 3. Using HP Smart App to Reconnect: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

Since you already have the HP Smart app installed, let's try using it to reconnect the printer:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
  • Make sure your computer is connected to your WiFi network.
  • If the printer is still broadcasting its own network (since it’s not connected to your home WiFi yet), switch your computer's WiFi to connect to the "HP-Setup-Deskjet 2630 series" network (this is the temporary network your printer broadcasts for setup).
  • Go back to HP Smart and add the printer by selecting "Set up a new printer" and following the on-screen instructions. The app should guide you through connecting the printer to your new WiFi network.

4. Direct USB Connection:

If WiFi setup isn't working, you can directly connect your printer to the computer using a USB cable:

  • Purchase a USB A to USB B printer cable (most likely available on Amazon or any local electronics store).
  • Connect one end to the USB port on your computer and the other end to the USB port on the printer.
  • The printer should be detected automatically by Windows and allow printing. However, this won’t resolve the WiFi issue, but it will let you use the printer via USB.

5. Find the Printer’s IP Address (Once Reconnected):

If you can get the printer connected to WiFi, you can find its IP address to manually add it:

  • Print a Wireless Network Test Report by pressing and holding the Information button (i) for a few seconds until the report prints.
  • The IP address will be listed on this report, and you can manually add the printer using the HP Smart app by entering the IP address.

6. Update Drivers: Software and Drivers for HP DeskJet 2632 All-in-One Printer

Make sure that the printer drivers are up to date:

  • Download and install the latest drivers from the HP website. Search for your printer model and download the recommended drivers for Windows 10 (32-bit).

Refer to this document:  HP DeskJet 2632 All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
