Hi @Pdale915

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It’s frustrating when your printer is set up and ready but doesn’t actually print. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps to help get your HP 8135e working again:

1. Check Printer Status

  • Offline or Error State: Make sure the printer isn't showing as "Offline" or in an error state. Go to your Printers & Scanners settings (on Windows, or System Preferences on macOS) and check the printer's status. If it’s offline, try setting it back to "online."
  • Printer Queue: Sometimes, print jobs get stuck in the queue. Open the printer queue and check if there are any jobs stuck. If so, try canceling them and then attempt printing again.

2. Restart the Printer and Computer

  • Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, wait 10-15 seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes a simple reboot can resolve connection issues.
  • Restart Computer: Similarly, restarting your computer can clear any temporary issues that might be interfering with printing.

3. Check the Printer Connection

  • If your printer is connected wirelessly, ensure that your computer is on the same network as the printer.
  • USB Connection: If it’s a wired printer, check that the USB cable is securely plugged into both the printer and your computer. Try a different USB port if necessary.
  • For wireless connections, ensure that the Wi-Fi is working and that the printer is connected to the correct network.

4. Set Printer as Default

  • Sometimes, the default printer might not be set properly. To set the HP 8135e as the default printer:
    • Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, click on your HP printer, and select Set as default.
    • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, then set your HP 8135e as the default printer.

5. Clear the Printer Queue

  • In case there are stuck print jobs, you’ll need to clear the print queue.
    • Windows: Open Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select See what's printing. Cancel any pending jobs, then try printing again.
    • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, click on your printer, and click Open Print Queue. Cancel any stuck print jobs.

6. Update Printer Drivers

  • Ensure that you have the latest drivers for your printer. Go to the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your HP 8135e printer.

I hope this helps.
