Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I was attempting to enable the 'Print Anywhere' feature and found online advice to enable web services from the printer. The option does not seem to be available, but the printer can connect to my home internet. Was wondering why some models would not have this feature even though they can connect to the internet and what alternatives are there to enjoy services similar to the 'Print Anywhere' feature.

Hi @Lamance,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw does support wireless printing and network connectivity, but it may not support all web services and features like the 'Print Anywhere' feature available in the HP Smart app. Here's some information to consider regarding this model and potential alternatives:

Web Services and Print Anywhere

Web Services Requirement: The 'Print Anywhere' feature is typically available only on printers that support HP Web Services. It allows remote printing via the internet from anywhere, which is dependent on specific printer models that can utilize HP ePrint cloud services.

Model Limitations: Not all HP printers, even those capable of connecting to Wi-Fi, support HP Web Services or 'Print Anywhere'. This is often due to hardware or firmware limitations that do not allow interaction with HP cloud printing features.

Alternatives to 'Print Anywhere'

Mobile Printing Apps: If your printer connects to Wi-Fi, you can still use mobile printing approaches by utilizing Apple AirPrint (for iOS devices) or Google Cloud Print (for Android). Check if these methods are available on your device settings.

VPN Connection: Set up a virtual private network (VPN) to access your home network remotely, allowing printing over your network as if you were at home. However, this method requires additional setup and network understanding.

Email to Print Solutions: While not directly supported in HP Web Services, some third-party solutions may allow email-to-print capabilities without relying solely on HP's cloud services.

HP Smart App: Use the HP Smart app's features that do not depend on web services explicitly if they are available, such as scanning directly to your phone or printing while connected to the same network.

I hope this helps.
