HP Envy 6120e All-in-One Printer

Envy 6120e, 4 months old. Scans and saves via HP Smart perfectly. But won't print anything, except the Test Results from the printer itself. It won't print direct from Word etc or the Smart app. The Test Results show 'fail' against connectivity. Everything switched off and on so many times but clearly not solving the problem.

Believe I have tried all else that has been recommended from your various sources, although I don't always understand what is meant and can't always find what is referred to.

Can anyone explain in simple terms what to do to resolve matters please? Or perhaps I have to keep the old all in one just for printing and the new one just for scanning!!!

Hi @GeeAK

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Here are clear steps you can follow to get your HP Envy 6120e printing again. Since scanning works, the printer hardware is fine—the issue is with connectivity or driver setup on Windows.

Step 1: Confirm Printer Connection

  • On the printer’s control panel, check Wireless/Network Settings.
  • Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi‑Fi network as your computer.
  • If it shows “Fail” in connectivity, run the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer’s menu and reconnect.

Step 2: Run Diagnose & Fix

  • Open the HP App on your computer.
  • Go to your printer’s page.
  • Select Diagnose & Fix.
This tool will automatically check for driver, connectivity, and queue issues, and repair them.

Step 3: Check Windows Default Printer

  • On your computer, open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Make sure the HP Envy 6120e is set as the default printer.
  • If you see multiple entries for the same printer, remove the duplicates and keep only the correct one.

Step 4: Clear Print Queue

  • In Printers & Scanners, select your printer.
  • Open the queue and cancel any stuck jobs.
  • Try printing a simple test document from Word again.

Step 5: Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • In Printers & Scanners, remove the HP Envy 6120e.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Open the HP App and add the printer again.
This ensures the latest drivers and connection settings are applied.

Step 6: Verify Printing from HP App

  • In the HP App, try printing a test page or a document.
  • If this works, printing from Word and other applications should also function.

If you carefully follow these steps, the printer should regain full printing capability.
