Hi @Denzel63,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can feel the frustration in your words. When a printer refuses to reconnect after a broadband change, it can feel like your brain is melting like warm wax. And when Instant Ink keeps ticking while the printer sits offline… yes, that’s enough to fry anyone’s nerves. Let’s take a gentle step‑by‑step approach together to bring your HP Envy 6200 back to life on your new Wi‑Fi.

STEP 1: Restore Network Settings from the Printer Panel

This method works even when the back‑button reset doesn't:

  1. On the printer’s touchscreen, swipe down or press the Wireless icon.
  2. Go to SetupNetwork Setup.
  3. Tap Restore Network Settings.
  4. Wait 1 minute, the Wi‑Fi light should turn amber or blink, meaning it's ready for a new connection.

STEP 2: Reconnect Using HP App

Now we’ll teach the printer your new Wi‑Fi:

  1. Open the HP App on your phone/computer.
  2. Tap + Add printer.
  3. The HP App should detect the printer in Setup Mode (SSID like: HP‑Setup‑Envy‑6200).
  4. Select your new Wi‑Fi name, enter the password, and finish setup.

STEP 3: Manually Force Wi‑Fi Setup Mode

If Setup Mode expired, we restart it manually:

  1. Turn the printer OFF.
  2. Turn it back ON and immediately press and hold:
Wireless Button + Cancel Button together for 5 seconds.
  3. The Wi‑Fi light should now blink purple/blue; this means Setup Mode is active again.

This replaces the back-button reset on models where that feature is quirky.

STEP 4: Check Router Settings

Some new broadband routers have security features that block printers.

Please check:

  • 2.4 GHz must be enabled (Envy 6200 does not support 5 GHz).
  • SSID broadcasting ON
  • WPA2 or WPA3/WPA2 mixed (no WPA3-only)

If your router auto-merged 2.4/5 GHz into one name, the printer sometimes doesn't like it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi Vikramthegreat! Thanks for your reply but alas again nothing worked! indeed the light flashed blue after pressing the reset button on the back along with the cancel button on the key pad but that was it lol nothing else! My BB provider changed my settings to accept my printer & our phones, tv's etc are all fine & connected its literally only the printer that refuses to budge! Ive tried the WPS button on the router as per instruction on the HP app & still zilch! The only life my printer is showing is a flashing wifi icon on control panel & a blue/white flashing light where the printed paper exits the printer! Im ready to hurl it out of the patio doors as its like sitting watching a silent disco but soul destroying! I could understand if a printer was a complex piece of kit but its a printer! Our phones etc connected within 2mins ive been trying the printer for 6 weeks now its draining my soul of life! Do i just admit defeat & re-model the printer with a hammer or just use it as a disco light? 😞
