HP Envy 6455 will not connect to Verizon Gateway….help!

I know how frustrating it is when your HP Envy 6455 won’t connect to your Verizon Gateway, especially when everything else seems to work fine. This usually happens due to Wi-Fi compatibility or setup issues after a network change.

Here’s the recommended troubleshooting path:

1. Restart Everything

  • Power cycle your printer, Verizon Gateway, and device running HP Smart.
  • Wait 30 seconds before turning them back on.


2. Check Wi-Fi Band

  • HP Envy 6455 supports 2.4 GHz only, not 5 GHz.
  • Make sure your Verizon Gateway is broadcasting 2.4 GHz (enable dual-band if needed).


3. Reset Printer Network Settings

  • On the printer: 
    • Setup → Network Settings → Restore Network Defaults.
  • Then reconnect using the correct SSID and password.


4. Use HP App


5. Disable Advanced Router Features

  • Temporarily turn off: 
    • MAC address filtering
    • Guest network isolation
    • WPA3-only mode (use WPA2 for compatibility)


 6. Update Printer Firmware
