Hi @JB10011,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting "Error 05" on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M29w which typically indicates a paper jam or a paper feed issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Paper Jams: Paper Jam Error.

  • Open all covers and trays to inspect for any jammed paper.
  • Remove any paper found carefully to avoid tearing it.
  • Make sure no small pieces of paper are left inside the printer.

Check Paper Tray and Feed Path:

  • Ensure the paper tray is not overfilled and the paper is aligned correctly.
  • Inspect the paper feed path for any obstructions or issues.

Clean the Paper Feed Rollers:

  • Turn off and unplug the printer.
  • Open the access door and locate the paper feed rollers.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the rollers.
  • Allow the rollers to dry completely before closing the door and plugging the printer back in.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn on the printer and navigate to the settings menu.
  • Look for an option to reset the printer to its default settings (usually under "Setup" or "Tools").
  • Perform the reset and see if the error clears.

Update Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure the printer's firmware is up to date. Visit the HP support website to download and install any available updates for your printer model.
