We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

My printer is connected to the wireless network but I have a message that the ethernet is not connected. I am not using ethernet and never have. I don't understand why it won't connect to my computer since the printer is connected to the wireless. I have tried resetting the printer and tried turning off my router and printer and computer but that did not work. Thanks in advance.

Hi @2D2,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP printer is experiencing some confusion regarding its network connections. Even though it's connected to your wireless network, it's still detecting an issue with the Ethernet connection, which you're not using.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this.

  • Restart your printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can clear out any temporary glitches. Turn off your printer, wait for a few moments, and then turn it back on.
  • Check network settings: Access your printer's settings menu, usually found on the printer's control panel or through a web interface if your printer has one. Ensure that it's configured to use wireless networking and that the Ethernet connection is disabled.
  • Forget network on printer: If your printer has previously been connected via Ethernet, it might be trying to default to that connection. Look for an option to forget or remove the Ethernet network settings from your printer.
  • Update printer firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve network-related issues.
  • Reset network settings: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting the network settings on your printer. This will clear out all network configurations, and you can set up the wireless connection from scratch.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
