HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Previously had my printer connected to wireless network. Changed wireless network. Attempted to connect printer to new network. I am locked out of my ability to connect to wireless network. Being told by printer that my admin is locked. I do not remember how to access and change and access admin info. Admin may have been changed by a technician assisting me with computer issues years ago.

How do I resolve this problem and/or get back to a "factory reset" so I can connect to my new wireless internet?

@cb1201, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're dealing with an admin password issue that’s preventing you from accessing the settings to change the Wi-Fi network on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8035. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this issue:

Reset Printer to Factory Settings

A factory reset will wipe out all settings on the printer (including Wi-Fi settings and the admin password), allowing you to start fresh and connect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network.

You may refer to this guide: Restore factory defaults on your HP printer | HP® Support

Reset Admin Password

Method 1: Use HP Smart App

Download the HP Smart App (if you don’t already have it):

You can download it from the Microsoft Store or the official HP website.

Open the HP Smart App and add the printer if it's not already added.

The app should offer an option to change the Wi-Fi settings directly from the app without needing the admin password.

Method 2: Access Admin Settings via Web Interface

Obtain the Printer’s IP Address:

From the printer’s touchscreen, navigate to Setup > Network > View Wireless Details.

Note down the IP address (usually something like 192.168.x.x).

Access the Web Interface:

On a computer or device connected to the same network, open a web browser and type the IP address of your printer into the address bar.

Press Enter. This should open the printer’s web interface.

Login to Admin Panel:

Default login credentials for HP printers are typically:

Username: admin

Password: admin (or sometimes 123456)

If the credentials don’t work, this is where you'd need to either remember the password or do a full reset.

Use the Wireless Setup Wizard (Post Factory Reset)

If you’ve successfully reset the printer to factory settings and now need to connect it to your new network:

Access the Printer's Wi-Fi Settings:

On the printer touchscreen, go to Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.

Select Your New Wi-Fi Network:

The printer should display a list of available networks. Select your new Wi-Fi network.

Enter Wi-Fi Password:

Use the touchscreen to input the Wi-Fi password and confirm.

Confirm Connection: Once the connection is established, the printer should confirm that it’s connected to the network.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
