I have tried all the solutions I found on here to reset to factory setting but nothing resets. Changed to new internet service but printer network listed as old one and can’t figure out how to change it through at or any solutions. Can I get instructions to reset ? Even if I wanted to sell and get a new printer this info needs to be cleared. I was very happy with this printer prior to this issue.

@Gs130, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your Factory reset laser m29w!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To reset your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M29w to factory settings, please follow these steps:

Power Off the Printer:

  • Make sure the printer is turned off.

Turn On the Printer:

  • Turn the printer back on. Wait until it has booted up completely.

Access the Reset Menu:

  • On the printer control panel, press the 'Wireless' and 'Cancel' buttons simultaneously. Hold these buttons down for about 5 seconds.

Reset the Printer:

  • This should bring up the reset menu. From this menu, there should be an option to reset all settings. Use the menu to perform a full factory reset.

Reconfigure the Network:

  • Once the printer is reset, you can configure it with your new internet service settings. You can do this by accessing the network settings on the printer control panel and following the setup wizard.

If the above method does not work, you can refer to the HP official support page for more detailed instructions and troubleshooting.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi @Gs130

Thank you for getting back and for the clarification — I understand how frustrating this must be, especially since you've loved your printer until this hiccup with the network change. I'm here to help you through it.

Since the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M29w doesn’t have a screen, the factory reset process is a bit more manual, but let’s try the most effective method to get it back to default settings.

Try this network reset method:

Power ON the printer and ensure it's in a ready state.

Press and hold the "Wireless" button and the "Cancel" button on the control panel at the same time.

Keep holding them for about 10-15 seconds until you see the Wireless light start blinking — this indicates that the network settings have been reset.

This should clear any saved Wi-Fi network settings, including the one linked to your old internet provider.

Next steps:

Once reset, you’ll need to reconnect the printer to your new Wi-Fi.

The easiest way is using the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.

Open the app, click the "+" to add a new printer.

Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your current Wi-Fi network.

If prompted, use the WPS button on your router or connect temporarily with a USB cable to complete setup.

If you've already tried this and it's still not resetting, let me know exactly what lights are showing on the printer (blinking, steady, or off), and I can dig deeper for you.

You're absolutely right — whether you keep or sell it, wiping your info is important. I’ll stick with you until we get this sorted. 😊

Looking forward to your update,

Warm regards,
