Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

I have the same issue as others but I am unable to find a solution in past posts. I just installed a new AT & T fiber router and now am unable to use my HP8625 printer. Most buttons on my touchscreen are stating that my printer has been locked so I cannot change to the new router. All evidence shows that my printer is still connected to my old router (which I no longer have). I believe I will need to do a full factory restore but am unable due to the lock. Can someone please help me with this issue?

Hi @KABchitown ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

It’s incredibly frustrating when a new router causes connectivity issues, especially with a locked printer screen—let’s work on getting this resolved for you.

  • Were you using any HP Smart App or web services (like ePrint) previously that might have locked the printer?
  • Do you recall setting up an administrator password or PIN on the printer when it was first installed?
  • Have you tried performing a partial reset or accessing the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) for advanced settings?

Access the Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS):
If your printer is still connected to the old network, connect a device to that network (if possible) and access the EWS via the printer's IP address in a web browser. Look for reset or lock override options.

Perform a Partial Reset:
Turn off the printer. Press and hold the “Back” button (or another combination like Cancel + OK) while turning it on. Continue holding the buttons until a reset menu appears. Follow the prompts to reset the printer partially.

Update the Wi-Fi Settings Using WPS:
If your new AT&T router supports WPS, enable WPS on the router and press the WPS button on the printer within 2 minutes to reconnect without unlocking.

Restore Factory Defaults via the Control Panel:
If the touchscreen allows partial access, navigate to Setup > Tools > Restore Factory Defaults. This can sometimes override the lock.

You may also refer to this user manual from page 39

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Elohi,

I tried everything multiple times without any success. I do have the HP Smart App installed on my iMac but it shows that my printer is unavailable so I am unable to access any of the functions.

I was able to run an HP Network Configuration Page which shows the passcode. I don’t ever recall changing it but it has been a number of years since I purchased the printer.

I tried to do a partial reset a number of times but a reset menu never appeared.  All other functions related to a reset/restore are unavailable.

Any other tips?
