HP Tango X
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm trying to add our HP Tango X Printer to the online HP Smart account using the printer claim code. I've disabled web services and re-enabled using the new code and I repeatedly get the error "That claim code is invalid, try entering a valid claim code (ie. 10HLVT3FRT)" when using all caps for the code or "Request failed with status code 500" when using lower case.  I've gone through this process several times without success. Not sure what to try next.

Hi @veenstje,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I'd like to help!

I understand you are facing a claim code error.

Use these steps to resolve the issue.

When you try to add a printer to your HP Smart account, you might see one of the following messages:

  • Invalid Code

  • Unexpected Error

  • Expired Code

  1. Wait for 5 to 10 minutes, and then type the printer code again. Occasionally there is a delay in the activation process.

  2. Type the printer code exactly as it displays on the info page, without any additional characters or dashes.

  3. Turn Web Services off then on to print a new info page with a new code.

Also, refer Printer Claim Process and FAQs

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
