Hi @dbrsr,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP Printer went offline. A printer that continuously drops offline usually suffers from an unstable Wi-Fi connection, a stuck print queue, or outdated drivers. To get it working reliably again, follow these quick and specific troubleshooting steps.

1. Perform a Complete Network Power Cycle

Sometimes, temporary glitches in your router or printer prevent devices from "seeing" each other.

  • Turn off your printer and computer.

  • Unplug the power cord from your wireless router, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. Wait a few minutes for your internet to fully reconnect.

  • Turn your printer back on, followed by your computer.

2. Check the Basics (Static IP & Network):

If the printer is getting a new IP address every time it turns off, your computer will lose track of it.

  • Make sure both your computer and printer are connected to the exact same Wi-Fi network (and frequency, e.g., both on 2.4GHz).

  • Print a network configuration page directly from your printer's control panel to check the signal strength and IP address.

3. Clear Stuck Print Jobs

A single stalled or corrupted document can force the entire printer to stop communicating with your PC.

  • On Windows, search for Services in your taskbar and open it. Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Restart (or Stop, wait a minute, then Start).

  • Open your printer queue, right-click any pending jobs, and cancel them.

4. Use the HP Diagnose & Fix Tool:

HP has a built-in utility specifically designed to automatically find and repair connection issues.

5. Re-Add the Printer as a Network Device:

If all else fails, a fresh connection will clear out the buggy settings.

  • Go to your device's settings and remove the printer entirely.

  • Reconnect using the Official HP® Support to reinstall the latest drivers and find the printer over your local network.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
