Hi @MollyS2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I will be delighted to assist you here.

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did this happen after changing your router or ISP?

There are two wireless passwords to consider:

- The password on the printer for direct connect

- The password on your home network that the printer would use to connect to your wifi

It sounds like you are referring to the first one where a PC direct connects to the printer via WiFi Direct.

If you want to clear the password on the printer's direct connect feature then perform a simple restore defaults function from the control panel of the printer.  This should reset the WiFi password and allow you to look up the new one.

Then when the password is reset you should be able to rerun the wireless configuration wizard from the control panel of the printer.  It will display the current new password.  Plug that password into your PC when you attempt to use WiFi Direct and it should allow you to proceed.

You may also try these steps:

  • Please restore factory defaults on the printer by following the steps from the user guide: http://hp.care/2CxQfkA (refer to page#73) on how to do it.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
