Tried to connect printer and could not get it so work- went through app to chat and was hooked up to Global Solutions who wants to access my laptop and charge me $313. They invoiced me through PayPal. Is this legit? An why is HP allowing this? I was on the phone for more than 2 hours off and on.

Thanks for bringing this up, it’s very important. If the support you reached was genuine HP, you would have been provided with a Case ID and a confirmation email from HP.

 

HP does not charge upfront fees like the $313 you mentioned through PayPal for basic troubleshooting, and we would never ask you to connect through third-party companies like "Global Solutions." This strongly suggests that you may have reached a scam site that’s pretending to be HP.

 

To help verify, can you please share the Case ID you received (if any) via private chat? That will allow us to confirm whether you actually spoke with HP Support or a third party.

 

In the meantime, please do not provide payment or remote access until we confirm.

I was not given a Case ID and have not given them any money.  However, they have now found my phone number at work and are threatening to call a collection agent.  The number they are calling from is showing Line Lexington, Pennsylvania and it is (edited) He calls himself Kevin.

To help us better understand how you were connected to this “Global Solutions,” could you let us know from which website or link you found their phone number or chat option? This will allow us to confirm whether it was an official HP channel or a fraudulent third-party site.

 

Once we know that, we can guide you on the next steps to protect your information and avoid further contact from them.
