Product: HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a
Operating System: macOS 12.0 Monterey

Actual Mac OS is Sonoma 14.4.1, which could be the problem as this OS wasn't available in the OS drop menu.  However, I've given up trying to connect my Officejet to my new router, which we just upped to 5G using Comcast.  That upgrade has caused more issues here, but that's another topic for another community... So, I understand I can connect directly from a device to my Officejet, which is awesome, but it's just not working. Very frustrating.  Can anyone advise if my Officejet Pro 8600 and my Mac Sonoma 14.4.1

Well, yes this could be a compatibility issue with your current MAC OS Sonoma. 

 

Make sure, your printer and your device are on the same network as 2.4GHZ only. 

 

However, Install HP Easy Start: HP Easy Start is the new way to set up your HP printer and prepare your Mac for printing. HP Easy Start will locate and install the latest software for your printer and then guide you through printer setup.
