Hi
I was given a HP 2510 printer.
I do not have internet at home.
Am I able to use a cable from my iPad to the printer to use the printer?
I am not tech savvy so any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you 🙏

Hi @Daisylouise
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It’s great that you’ve got a HP 2510 printer! I can definitely help you figure out how to use it with your iPad, especially without the need for an internet connection.
1. Check Printer Type:
The HP 2510 series printers (HP DeskJet 2510, HP DeskJet 2512, etc.) are USB printers, meaning they don’t have built-in Wi-Fi or wireless printing capability. However, you can still connect it to your iPad directly using a USB cable (with the right adapters) and print without needing internet.
2. Connect Your iPad to the Printer with a Cable (Using an Adapter)
Since HP 2510 printers don’t support direct Wi-Fi connections, you can print from your iPad to the printer via a USB cable, but you'll need a specific adapter. Here's how you can do it:
What You’ll Need:
- A USB-to-Lightning cable (this is the cable you use to charge your iPad).
- A USB-A to USB-B printer cable (this is the cable that connects the printer to a computer, usually comes with the printer).
- A Lightning to USB Camera Adapter or USB-C to USB Adapter (depending on your iPad model). This adapter allows you to connect a USB printer to your iPad.
How to Connect:
Get the Right Adapter:
- If you have an iPad with a Lightning port (older models), you’ll need a Lightning to USB Camera Adapter. This is available from Apple or online retailers.
- If your iPad has a USB-C port (like the newer iPad Pro models), you’ll need a USB-C to USB Adapter.
Connect the Printer to the Adapter:
- Plug the USB printer cable (the one with the square USB-B end) into your HP 2510 printer.
- Plug the USB-A end of the cable into the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter (or USB-C to USB Adapter if you have a USB-C iPad).
Connect the Adapter to Your iPad:
- Plug the Lightning to USB Adapter (or USB-C to USB Adapter) into the iPad.
- The iPad should now recognize the printer.
Printing from iPad:
- Open the document or photo you want to print on your iPad.
- Tap the Share button (this usually looks like a square with an arrow pointing up).
- Scroll down and select Print.
- If your printer is recognized, select your HP 2510 printer.
- Adjust any print settings you need, like the number of copies or paper size.
- Tap Print.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
