Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I have changed my router and have a problem with HP2620 printer not printing. The 'i' light is glowing red and the wireless light is flashing.  Looking at 'Network and sharing' in Printer properties, the printer is connected with a strong signal and running diagnostics says no problems found. I have rebooted both printer and router(multiple times). I have pressed the 'I' button and the 'X' button and printed the help pages and tried as many of the instructions as I can. Any help appreciated, but please keep it as straightforward as possible as I am not very technical.

Thank you

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP DeskJet 2620 printer is having trouble connecting to your new router. The flashing wireless light typically indicates that the printer is trying to connect or has lost its connection. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this issue:

Step 1: Restart Everything

  1. Turn off your printer, router, and computer.
  2. Wait for 1-2 minutes, then turn on the router first.
  3. Once the router is fully operational, turn on the printer and computer.

Step 2: Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi

Since you've changed your router, you'll need to reconnect the printer to the new network:

  1. Reset printer network settings:
    • Press and hold the Wireless button (📶) and the Cancel button () together for 5 seconds until the wireless light starts blinking.
  2. Connect via HP Smart App (Recommended)
    • Download and install the HP Smart app on your phone or PC if you haven’t already.
    • Open the app and select Set up a new printer.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect it to Wi-Fi.
  3. Manual WPS Connection (Alternative)
    • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless (📶) button until it starts flashing.
    • On your router, press the WPS button (usually located on the back or side).
    • Wait for the wireless light on the printer to become solid (not blinking), indicating a successful connection.

Step 3: Update Printer Connection in Windows

  1. Open Control Panel and go to Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your HP DeskJet 2620 and select Remove device.
  3. Click Add a printer, then let Windows detect and add the printer again.

Step 4: Print a Test Page

  1. Open any document or go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your printer and select Print Test Page.
