Hi @chloechaya,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding resetting the admin password for the HP DeskJet 3633 printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Reset Network Settings:

  • Restore the default network settings to clear any saved password:
    • On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button simultaneously for about 5 seconds until the Wireless light blinks. This restores the network settings to default.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

  • After resetting the network settings, you can reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network using the HP Smart app or software available for your printer model.

Printer Setup:

  • Ensure your printer is on and within the range of your Wi-Fi router.
  • Use the HP Smart app to complete the setup without needing an admin password.
    • Download the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com or your device’s app store.
    • Follow the app instructions to add your printer and connect it to your wireless network.

Factory Reset (if Network Reset is not sufficient):

  • If you absolutely need to perform a factory reset, which typically requires an admin password, unfortunately, Refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.

I hope this helps.

I followed the steps to factory reset to factory defaults on the site you linked using the control panel. I still is requiring a printer password. I cannot reset it using the EWS as it requires a password and I do not have one. There is no sticker anywhere on the printer that lists a PIN.

Hi @chloechaya,

Thank you for letting me know. I see exactly what’s happening here, and I know it’s extra frustrating when the Embedded Web Server (EWS) is locked behind a password you never set. Let’s tackle this carefully:

First, try this default EWS password:
For many HP DeskJet printers, if you never set an EWS admin password, the default can be one of these:

admin (try lowercase)

The Wi-Fi Direct PIN (sometimes printed on a sticker inside the ink access door or on the back)

Or the WPS PIN, which prints on the Network Configuration Page

To find the WPS PIN, press and hold the Information (i) button (or the Wi-Fi + i buttons together) to print a Network Configuration Page, check under Wireless Settings or Wi-Fi Direct for a PIN.

Let me know how it goes.

Nope....

I tried the WPS PIN

The Wi-Fi driect PIN

and admin

None work.

I have never set the password on this printer and have used it for years without this problem.
