Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

We had a power outage at our house. When everything came back on, our HP 4130 cannot reconnect to the WiFi. The Orange Information light is blinking. When pressed, the printer prints an information sheet. I have reseated the cartridges. I have performed both soft and hard resets. I have connected via USB cable, and although my computer can see the printer, it will not print. I have tried using the HP app on both phone and computer and while it sees the device and starts the WiFi connection, when it gets to entering the WiFi password, it fails (yes, I am putting in the correct password and have checked the printer is on the same network as the devices). it says 'Cannot connect the printer to the Wi-Fi - connecting to your printer is taking longer than expected'. I have tried removing the printer from the software and re-adding. I have rebooted computers, routers... nothing works. Am I missing something?

Hi @kdiglas78,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet 4130 is not reconnecting to Wi-Fi after a power outage, and the orange information light is blinking. Let’s go through the steps to get it back online.

Confirm the printer is ready for wireless setup

Press the Information button and print a network configuration page.

Verify the printer shows no active Wi-Fi network. A blinking orange light usually indicates a network issue.

Reset the network settings on the printer

On the printer: Setup → Network Setup → Restore Network Defaults (or hold the Wi-Fi button for 10–15 seconds).

This clears old network information and prepares the printer for the new connection.

Reboot your router and ensure stable Wi-Fi

Power off the router for 1–2 minutes, then turn it back on.

Ensure the network is 2.4 GHz, as some printers do not connect to 5 GHz networks.

Confirm no MAC filtering or access restrictions are enabled.

Connect using HP Smart app

Open the HP Smart app on your computer or phone.

Select Add Printer → Wireless Setup, then follow prompts.

Make sure the Wi-Fi password is correct and typed carefully (case-sensitive).

Try temporary USB setup

Connect the printer via USB to your computer.

Use HP Smart to set up Wi-Fi via USB, then disconnect the USB cable once the connection is successful.

Check firewall or antivirus

Temporarily disable firewall or antivirus on your computer and phone during setup.

Some security software can block printer discovery or password verification.

Test connection after setup

Once connected, the Wi-Fi light should be solid blue.

Print a test page via Wi-Fi to confirm full functionality.

I hope this helps.
