Hi @Mmmmmaria1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Deskjet 4130e printer is experiencing persistent issues with maintaining a wireless connection. Here are several steps and troubleshooting methods you can try to resolve this:
1. Restart Printer and Network Devices
Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
Restart Router: Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in to restart.
Verify Wi-Fi Signal: Ensure that the printer is within the range of your Wi-Fi network and there are no physical obstructions hindering the signal.
2. Update Printer Firmware
- Check for Firmware Updates: Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model (HP Deskjet 4130e), and look for firmware updates. Download and install any available updates following the instructions provided.
3. Reconfigure Wireless Settings
Printer Control Panel: On the printer's control panel, navigate to the wireless settings or network setup menu.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi: Follow the prompts to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. Make sure to enter the correct Wi-Fi password if prompted.
4. Reset Network Settings on Printer
Reset Network Settings: Using the printer's control panel, find the option to reset network settings. This will clear any previous network configurations.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi: After resetting, go through the process of connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network again.
5. Check Wi-Fi Direct Connection
- Wi-Fi Direct: If available, consider using Wi-Fi Direct mode as an alternative to connect your laptop and printer directly without relying on your home Wi-Fi network.
6. Update Printer Driver and HP Smart App
Update Printer Driver: Ensure that the printer driver on your laptop is up to date. Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest driver if necessary.
Update HP Smart App: If you use the HP Smart App on your laptop to manage the printer, ensure that it is also updated to the latest version from the Microsoft Store or HP's website.
7. Disable VPN or Firewall Interference
Disable VPN: If you are using a VPN on your laptop, temporarily disable it to see if it is affecting the printer’s connectivity.
Firewall Settings: Check your firewall settings to ensure that they are not blocking the printer's connection to your Wi-Fi network.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
