Product: HP 4650 All in One Printer

My 4650 printer won't print via air print from my IOS devices. When I look at the printer before printing, the wireless (blue light) is activated and I can print test pages.  However when I try to print using airprint via any device (HP Desktop, iPad, iPhone), the printer isn't recognized as a valid air print device.  I must then go the  printer, turn it off, turn it back on and wait for all connections to be established.  It is only THEN, that the printer is recognized as a printer from which I can air print.  If I wait awhile and try to print something else, the air print recognition is gone and I have to turn off the printer and start it again for it to be recognized.  Any ideas as to what may be going on?

What is the distance between the router and the printer?

Which operating system is installed on the HP desktop?
