The Web Access Test Report shows an error stating that Proxy server needs to be configured but my network does not have a proxy server - it is a standard Home network through a BT SmartHub.
How do I tell the printer that a proxy server is NOT required?
The symptom of the problem is that "scan to email" fails, and Instant Ink status also sometimes fails.

Hi @Robert2206,
I'd like to help!
I understand that the printer is requesting a proxy to be configured.
To assist better-
What device are you using the printer with, a Windows computer, Mac, Android or an iPhone?
I would like to know, is your router set to work on 2.4 GHz network or 5 GHz network band?
Could you print a network configuration page and share the results -
-
Load plain white paper into the input tray.
-
From the printer control panel home screen, swipe left, and then touch Setup.
-
Swipe up, touch Print Reports, and then touch Network Configuration Report.
A Network Configuration Page prints.
Keep me posted.

Hi there,
The printer is direct connected through Ethernet.
I can happily print from all devices (Mac, iPhone and PC) to my printer so connecting to the local network is not an issue.
However, whenever I try and use WebServices, or to use 'scan to e-mail' I get a message saying 'Web Services Unavailable' and the diagnostic says the proxy needs to be configured.
I use the BT HomeHub to access the Internet and this does not have a proxy server capability.
Thanks,
Robert

Try the below suggestions -
Restart the computer, printer, and router
To resolve any connectivity issues, restart the computer, printer, and router.
NOTE: The following steps temporarily disconnect network and Internet connections and require restarting your computer. Complete any tasks or downloads in progress before you continue.
- Turn off the router by pressing the power button or disconnecting the power cord.
- Turn off the printer.
- Close all running programs on your computer, and then shut down the computer.
- Press the power button or reconnect the power cord to the router, and then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.
- Turn on the printer.
- Turn on the computer.
- Try to turn on Web Services.
If the issue persists, continue to the next step.
Let's disable webservices and re-enable it
--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address
--->Open a web browser (ex Chrome or Mozilla) and type in the printer's IP
---> click on webservices and remove webservices and re-enable it
If the issue persists,
Check the Internet proxy server settings
For networks that use proxy servers, update the Web Services settings in the printer EWS with the proxy information.
Locate the Internet proxy settings.
Windows: Search Windows for Internet, and then click Internet Options in the list of results. On the Internet Properties window, click the Connections tab, select your network, if necessary, and then click Settings.
The network settings menu displays with the proxy settings.
From the EWS, click the Web Services tab, and then click Proxy Settings.
Type the Address and Port values for your proxy server connection, and then click Apply.
Try to turn on Web Services.
Update the printer firmware
HP regularly releases printer updates. Updating the printer firmware might resolve the issue.

Hope this helps, keep me posted!

I've tried all these suggestions multiple times. The issue is that the printer states a proxy is required when I know that one isn't. How do I tell the printer that a proxy is not required? Or, is it possible that the printer is not able to correctly access WebServices from my printer anymore?

Try and set a manual IP-
To set a manual IP and try the steps below -
--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address
--->Open a web browser (ex Chrome or Mozilla) and type in the printer's IP
--->then go to network ---> general ---> network protocols ---> select IPV4 only-->apply
--->go to wireless ---> wireless 802.11---> select manual ip ---> apply
--->Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
--->then go to settings on the main ews page --> power management ---> select sleep mode to max 15min
If the issue persists, please share the printer configuration page.
Keep me posted!

Thank you for sharing the configuration report.
We could try a semi-full reset on the printer, but this erases everything on the printer and we would have to re-enroll to instant ink with a different claim code.
Please let me know if you are willing to try.
Or please reach the HP Instant Ink team(contact info can be found on the home page) in your region for further assistance.
Hope this helps!
