iMac Sequoia 15.2 - my hp 7858 refuses to communicate. I have reset. I downloaded HP Smart and it refuses to open saying my location services is of when it is actually on. Restarted iMac. restarted HP 7858.  What is going on?

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY Photo 7858 All-in-One Printer isn't communicating with your iMac, and you're facing an issue with HP Smart not opening despite location services being enabled. 

 

Here are some troubleshooting steps that could help:

 

Update HP Smart and macOS:

  • Ensure that both the HP Smart app and macOS are up to date. Sometimes, outdated versions may cause compatibility issues.

Check Location Services:

  • Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Location Services, and ensure that HP Smart is listed and enabled.
  • If it's already enabled, try disabling it and then re-enabling it.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure both your iMac and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network. Try restarting the router to rule out any connectivity issues.
  • You can also try connecting your printer via USB to check if that resolves the communication issue.

Reinstall HP Smart:

  • Uninstall HP Smart and then reinstall it from the Mac App Store. After reinstalling, try to open it again and check if the issue persists.

Reset the Printer's Network Settings:

  • On your HP ENVY Photo 7858, reset the network settings. You can usually do this by navigating through the printer's control panel to Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
  • After resetting, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Sometimes firewall or antivirus software can block the communication between your printer and iMac. Check your settings to ensure that nothing is blocking HP Smart or printer connections.

None of these suggestions worked. The new cartridge Instant Ink sent me started all of this. I'll try to get them to send me a new cartridge, but if the printer won't turn on, most of your suggestions are unattainable.

I previously stated that I tried all of these solutions. Instant Ink sent me cartridges that when inserted into my HP 7858 printer gave me 'unable to communicate' I removed the new cartridges and inserted the previous cartridges and the printer worked again. After the ink was completely empty I reinserted the new instant ink cartridges and got the same result 'unable to communicate. I was sent another set of cartridges- same issue. I was sent a 3rd set of cartridges same issue. Now I have 6 sets of unused cartridges and I'm too I can't do anything with them because the now non-functioning printer instant ink contract has been canceled as I have been paying for it for 2 months without being able to use it. What do you sugge
