New Spectrum Router works fine with 10 other devices but HP printer cannot see WiFi.

Ethernet connect works but not WiFi

Router is set on 2.4 Ghz.

Printer worked great on ASUS Router WiFi but doesn't see Spectrum.

Can see my neighbors WiFi but not mine.

We have factory reset both Router and Printer.  (No change)

All firmware updated to latest.

Spectrum says it is an HP issue, yet we never had a printer problem before using ASUS WiFi.

Greatful for any help.  Thank you

Jon

Hi @jonemiles63

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it feels when the printer connects fine with Ethernet but refuses to see your Wi‑Fi, especially since everything worked smoothly with your previous router. Thank you for the effort you’ve already put in with resets and updates.

Let’s go through some focused steps together to help your HP OfficeJet Pro 8030e detect the Spectrum Wi‑Fi.

Step 1: Confirm Router Settings

  • Ensure the router is broadcasting on 2.4 GHz with WPA2 security enabled.
  • Avoid using WPA3‑only mode, as some printers cannot connect to it.
  • Check that the SSID (network name) is visible and not hidden.

Step 2: Simplify Wi‑Fi Configuration

  • Temporarily set the Wi‑Fi name (SSID) to something simple, using only letters and numbers.
  • Remove special characters, spaces, or very long names.
  • Do the same for the Wi‑Fi password.

Step 3: Reconnect Printer to Wi‑Fi

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your Wi‑Fi network from the list and enter the password.
  • If the printer still does not see your network, try enabling Wi‑Fi Direct and connect your device directly to the printer.

Guide: HP Printers – Printing with Wi‑Fi Direct

Step 4: Check Router Channel

  • Log into your Spectrum router settings.
  • Set the 2.4 GHz channel to a fixed value (such as channel 1, 6, or 11).
  • Printers sometimes fail to detect networks if the router is set to auto‑select unusual channels.

Step 5: Use the HP App

  • Install the HP App on your Windows PC or mobile device.
  • Add the printer using the app and attempt wireless setup through it.

Guide: Install and Use the HP App

Step 6: Restart Devices

  • Restart both the router and the printer after making changes.
  • Once restarted, run the Wireless Setup Wizard again.

By following these steps, you can isolate whether the issue is with the router’s configuration or the printer’s wireless detection. Simplifying the SSID and fixing the channel often resolves this type of problem.
