Hi,
I wonder if anyone could point me towards a right direction.
I have a new printer HP 9012e at work and I have issues printing via USB cable. Whenever I send a file it starts but all that comes out is ink smeared paper. It also stops halfway through which then has to be cancelled. Printer is not connected to the internet. I have tried using our local WiFi but that is not the same as the computers.
Ideally we would like to avoid connecting it to the internet, is that possible, as it is not necessary.
Many thanks

Hi @Peta72548 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are experiencing some frustrating issues with your HP OfficeJet 9012e All-in-One Printer when attempting to print via a USB cable.
Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
Check USB Cable: Make sure the USB cable you're using to connect the printer to your computer is in good condition and securely plugged into both the printer and the computer. Sometimes, using a different USB cable can resolve connectivity issues.
Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have installed the correct printer drivers on your computer. Sometimes, using outdated or incorrect drivers can cause printing problems. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website specific to your printer model.
Printer Settings: Check the printer settings on your computer to ensure they are configured correctly. Make sure the printer is set as the default printer and that the settings match the paper size and type you're using.
Printer Calibration: Run a printer calibration or alignment process from the printer's control panel. This can help ensure that the printer is properly calibrated to produce clear, accurate prints.
Printer Maintenance: Perform any necessary maintenance tasks on the printer, such as cleaning the printheads or checking for paper jams. Sometimes, issues like ink smearing can be caused by dirty printheads or other mechanical problems.
Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the printer's firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and improve performance.

Thank you for your reply.
Will the printer without internet?
I have looked at the above but still no success. I think it will be a connection issue between printer and pc. When printing alignment sheet it's all looking great but when from the pc it is just smeared paper, see image.
I will try another thing and will post again.
