Trying to set up printer on new network. It won’t recognize new network. It was searching for old network, but I have reset it to having none.

Hello @comet651 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thanks for confirming the model. This model cannot browse or select Wi-Fi networks from the printer panel. Setup must be done through HP Smart after a button-based wireless reset.

Please follow these steps to resolve the issue.

Step 1: Put the Printer into Wireless Setup Mode (CRITICAL)

Turn the printer ON. Press and hold both buttons together:

Cancel (X), Wireless (📶), Hold for 5–7 seconds

Release when the blue wireless light starts blinking

🔵 Blinking blue light = ready to find a new network

If the light is solid or off, repeat the step.

Step 2: Set Up Using HP Smart (Required)

You must use HP Smart to push the new Wi-Fi details to the printer.

On your computer or phone, connect to the new Wi-Fi network

Install/open HP Smart

Click Add Printer or Set up a new printer

Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password

Wait for confirmation

The printer will not show the network on its screen — this is normal.

Step 3: Check Router Compatibility (Very Important)

The M182nw supports 2.4 GHz only.

Your router must be set to:

2.4 GHz enabled

Security: WPA2-PSK (AES)

Step 4: Confirm Connection

Press Cancel (X) + Black Copy together to print a Network Configuration Page.

✔️ Wireless light: Solid blue

✔️ IP address assigned
