Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

The printer randomly shows/goes offline.  When I go to the printer control panel and check the Settings the WI-FI shifts to On, even though I've never turned it off.  Signal strength is excellent.

Hi @TomCruise1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP 3301cdw printer is randomly going offline, experiencing Wi-Fi disconnections, or showing Wi-Fi as turned off when checked from the control panel, you can follow these troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

Check Printer and Network Settings

Verify Wi-Fi Settings:

  • Ensure that the Wi-Fi is indeed enabled on the printer. Sometimes it might display inaccurately.
  • Use the printer control panel to confirm the Wi-Fi settings are correctly configured to your network.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Check HP’s Official HP® Support for the latest updates.

Signal and Network Range:

  • Verify that the printer is within the effective range of your Wi-Fi router (within 30 meters or 100 feet).
  • Minimize obstacles, such as walls or other electronic devices, which can interfere with signals.

Restart Devices

Restart Printer and Router:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart the Wi-Fi router to reset the network.

Check Device Utilities:

Reconfigure Network Connection

  1. Re-establish Network Connection:

    • Go through the initial setup to reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi network using the printer's control panel.
    • Alternatively, use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) if your router supports it.
      • Press the WPS button on the router; then press and hold the wireless button on the printer for 3–5 seconds to connect.

Printer Driver and System

  1. Update or Reinstall Printer Driver:

    • Check if the printer driver requires updates.
    • If issues persist, uninstall and reinstall the printer driver to ensure proper functionality.

      I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
