Hi @Kirk2906,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the E8 error code on an HP DeskJet 4220e All-in-One Printer typically indicates an issue with the printer's internal hardware, often related to the printhead or carriage. Here’s a step-by-step approach to resolve it:

Check for Obstructions:

  • Open the printer's access door and ensure there are no paper jams or foreign objects obstructing the printhead or carriage.

Reinstall the Printhead:

  • Remove the printhead by following the instructions in your printer’s manual.
  • Carefully clean the electrical contacts on both the printhead and the printer with a dry, lint-free cloth.
  • Reinstall the printhead and ensure it is seated properly.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure the ink cartridges are installed correctly and are not damaged.
  • Remove the cartridges and reinsert them to make sure they are securely in place.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.

Update Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. You can do this by visiting the HP Support website and searching for your printer model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
