Hello,
I have been having several printing issues when using my printer via WiFi connection - probably because teh WiFi signal is not so strong where the printer is located.
So I decided to use it connected to the USB directly to one of the PCs of the house.
I turned off the wifi, unplugged the printer, removed all drivers and started a process of re-installing.
I plugged in and turned on teh printer, made sure that the WiFi was still off, and plugged in the USB cord.
The Scanner is visible and works correctly, but the printer is not detected.
I have (re)installed HP Smart, but no printer is detected.
I have tried to detect the printer from teh "Printer and Scanner" page (where the scanner is visible) but no printer is detected.
I am not sure what else to try.
Thanks in advance,
Walter

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help.
Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Thank you. VERY helpful.
I was able to remove everything and finally reinstall the basic driver. And now everything seems to work correctly.
One remark, in case someone else follows this: there was one driver that was reported in use when following steps 7-9, so I could not remove it.
I found out that I could go to Services, stop the Printer Spooler, then delete the content of C:\Windows\System32\spool\Printers and then restart the service.

Thanks again.
