Microsoft Windows 11

I am so done with this HP DeskJet Plus 4152 and the absolute circus of trying to connect it to my computer. What should be a simple setup has turned into a full-blown tech nightmare, and I’m beyond frustrated.

First, why is it asking for an 8-digit PIN? Where the hell is this magical number supposed to be? Not on the printer. Not in the manual. Nowhere. Did HP just expect me to guess it? And don’t even get me started on the useless "help" articles that just loop me in circles without actually solving anything.

Then there’s the Wi-Fi mess. I press the Wi-Fi button; it looks like it’s working—but nope, my PC acts like the printer doesn’t even exist. Bluetooth? Same disaster. And HP’s customer support? A joke. Either I’m stuck in automated hell or waiting on hold forever just to be told to "restart the printer," like I haven’t already done that 50 times.

I bought this thing because it’s supposed to be "easy to use," but instead, I’m wasting hours on what should take minutes. All these "advanced features" mean nothing if the **bleep** thing can’t even connect! If I wanted a tech puzzle, I’d have built my own printer from scratch.

HP, fix this. Either make your setup process actually work or stop pretending your printers are user-friendly. And for the love of God, put the PIN somewhere obvious—or better yet, don’t require one at all!

Furious and fed up with HP products.

@ELO2025x, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

I hear your frustration loud and clear. I’m really sorry you're having such a tough time setting up your HP DeskJet Plus 4152. Let’s simplify this and get you back on track quickly.

Why it's asking for an 8-digit PIN

The printer is likely trying to connect via Wi-Fi Direct. The 8-digit PIN is a security code printed on a label—usually on the bottom or back of the printer. It may also appear when you print a Network Configuration Page.

If your computer can’t find the printer on Wi-Fi:

First, unplug the printer completely, turn off your laptop and router, wait one minute, then power everything back on.

Next, let’s remove any old settings that could be causing problems. On your laptop, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Remove device. Then, go to Device Manager, under Print queues, and uninstall any drivers related to your printer. Now, reinstall it using HP Smart, this is the easiest way to ensure your printer is properly set up.

If the printer still doesn’t show up or keeps going offline, check your Wi-Fi network and make sure it’s connected to the same network as your laptop and phone. If possible, assign the printer a static IP address in your router settings so it doesn’t keep "disappearing."

If all else fails, try a factory reset on the printer and start fresh.
