HP Deskjet 2620 connected without internet

I have been trying to connect my printer to my Android phone (v10) but it just says no internet when it does manage to find the printer.   I simply want to use it to get HP Instant Ink as ink cartridges are just so extortionate to buy elsewhere.   I have followed all instructions but knowing that instructions very often miss vital information out and there just aren't many instructions for getting it set up without assuming you can get it online in the first place.  Am I missing anything or is the printer just pants?

Once set up, refer to the document HP Printers - Enrolling in HP Instant Ink to complete the enrollment.

Thanks, but the printer is out of warranty now, having been hardly been able to connect at all.  It has only connected once but not since so it can connect.  The signal is just not strong enough.  I think I will just get a decent printer.
